What advice do you have for young people who are discerning their vocation?

Jesinta George, Dallas, TX

Find time to be alone with God. Talk to Him and vitalize your prayer life.  God who created you out of love wants all that is true, beautiful and good for you.  He has a plan for you and wants to reveal it to you.  All that you need to do is to be patient and be open to it.  Situations, people and events in your life along with time spent in His presence will gradually unfold His will and plan for you.  Pope Francis affirms that vocation is “recognition of why I was made, why I am here on earth, and what the Lord’s plan is for my life” (Christus Vivit #256). Furthermore, the Catechism of the Catholic Church states that “the desire for God is written in the human heart, because man is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw man to himself.  Only in God will he find the truth and happiness he never stops searching for” (#27).
