Working in the medical field provides plenty of opportunities for evangelization. Often encounters with people happen when they are at a vulnerable point in life, and are thus more receptive. Sarah, who works as a nurse practitioner at a primary care clinic, unabashedly gives Jesus along with the medical prescriptions. Her life is very centered on daily Holy mass, scripture devotion, adoration, and frequent confession. She prepares to share Jesus to her patients by praying for them before the Blessed Sacrament. She seeks the intercession of Mother Mary in her daily evangelization. Sarah has often experienced that Mother Mary sends patients to her who need her care. The Holy Spirit guides her in the right diagnosis and treatment. Patients coming to her know that not only are their physical needs being met, but also their spiritual needs. She is humbled to proclaim through her life, “If I preach the gospel, this is no reason for me to boast, for an obligation, has been imposed on me and woe to me if I do not preach it”! (1 Corinthians 9:16). She witnesses as “salt” and “light” in her state of life.

A simple prayer for others could do more wonders than one would hope for. When Steve hears his friends using our Lord’s name in vain, he reminds them of the second commandment. When he hears a stranger doing so, he prays for them in his heart. His friendship with Roy started at a summer fitness boot camp in 2015. Roy was a recent divorcee then, and his life frustrations were evident in his language. He used the profane language every time the work out went intense.  Steve would, in turn, pray for him. After a few weeks of praying, and to his surprise, Roy expressed a desire to join Steve for a Sunday mass. That Mass had a significant impact on him as he felt that the sermon spoke to him personally. The personal touch made him attend Mass more frequently. He was inspired to join the RCIA program. He became a baptized Catholic the following Easter eve. He now “walks by Faith, not by sight” (2 Cor 5:7)

Renny is not ashamed of reading the Bible in the school staff room daily. She even pasted a Bible verse on her table under her time table. She always spoke about Jesus and how her life changed after an encounter with Him.. She encouraged all of us to read the Bible and practice the gospel values in our lives. She prays for all the school staff and shows us the differences happening in their lives because of her surrendering them to God. I believe because of her prayer everyone around her is being blessed by our loving God. Yes, we are a blessing for all if we abide in God.
